Our current initiative, The Reel Advocacy Series,
supports community documentary film screenings to inform, engage, and inspire political and social action.
As a part of our Reel Advocacy Series, in May and June of 2019, The Acorn Project screened Afghan Cycles in Santa Barbara and Ventura. Many of you in our Ventura community - sponsors and supporters came out for a thoughtful panel, community art project, and bike ride of solidarity with the women athletes and first Afghan women's cycling team, courageously at the forefront of cultural change and advancing women's rights, in Afghanistan. We were inspired by the bravery and determination of the young riders highlighted in the film. We've been following closely as the harrowing events unfold.
The Acorn Project was honored to be part of Women Funded 2021: The Feminist Factor, a virtual conference, on September 23, 2021.
Women Funded 2021 was a virtual gathering of all gender and racial justice funders, allies, and individuals committed to place-based solutions across the globe for gender equity. Women Funded ‘21 explored the intersectional nature of feminism as a driver of our work, of the values that we hold, and how we are collectively building a more equitable future.
